Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular video game series of our time. Ubisoft, the developer, has been working hard trying to perfect the original formula, and now the franchise is at its peak. As for the big screen, the first movie adaptation that came out in 2016 received mixed/positive reviews and was a mild commercial success.
And the Assassin’s Creed 2 movie trailer 2018 proves that the sequel will be just as impressive, if not better. The producers hinted that the second installment might focus on the Cold War and explore the possibility of the Assassins working on both sides of the conflict. The setting is quite rich, and if the production team manages to deliver, we might just get one of the best spy action films of the 21st century.
A Breath Of Fresh Air
It’s officially confirmed that chapter #2 was already in development when the first one hit the theaters, which means it will definitely be released next year. Furthermore, they say the “men in suits” behind this project want to turn it into a big-time franchise with a new movie every 1/2 years and a TV show.
Together with the wildly popular video game, it looks like the assassins will conquer the media sooner than we were expecting! The critics love to scold Assassin’s Creed for being too CGI-heavy and not introducing anything new to the story. Well, that’s partially true, but, given the fact that these days Hollywood is all out of ideas, it still was a breath of fresh air. For the fans of movies who have never even heard of the game, of course.
Taking The Franchise To The Next Level
It feels like the Assassin’s Creed 2 teaser trailer is trying to sit on four chairs at once. The thing is – the director will have to do the impossible and please the gamers, the viewers, the producers and his own ambitions. Will he be able to do that without compromising the quality of the movie? It’s hard to say, but, again, the trailer is pretty promising. Michael Fassbender, the star of the first film, will be returning for the sequel, as will some of the key characters.
The original formula is like a God-sent for the “rotten” industry, and even the wildest and craziest twists can be explained and justified. That gives the team room for many creative moves. Now, in all fairness, the 2016 film was one of the best video game adaptations ever. We’re used to Hollywood ruining whatever great ideas they find, but AC wasn’t the case. So, what about chapter #2 – will it blow our minds? The new Assassin’s Creed 2 official trailer 2018 proves that it certainly does have the potential to!
