Plot

The action of the movie unfolds in the not too distant future. Humanity is actively exploring space and sending expeditions to other planets in search of alien life.

Clifford McBride gets involved in one of these risky operations. He will go to Neptune, where signs of an extraterrestrial civilization were discovered. However, the mission failed, and Clifford was missing. 20 years have passed, and the body of the scientist was never found. McBride was declared dead.

However, his son, Roy McBride, refuses to believe in the death of his father. The young man suffers from a mild form of autism, which does not prevent him from achieving great success in space engineering. He devotes his life to find his missing father. One day, Roy manages to find out that Clifford is probably alive and hiding in one of the abandoned Neptune stations. The hero decides to take a risky journey through the entire solar system.

A team was sent in search of the missing scientist. Roy Clifford is among them. However, the captain of a spaceship dies under strange circumstances. His last words were a warning to Roy: do not trust anyone.

1. The movie “Ad Astra” is the first collaboration of director James Gray and actor Brad Pitt. In 2016, Gray offered Pitt to play the main role in his film “The Lost City of Z.” Pitt accepted the proposal but was later forced to leave the project because of the busy schedule.
