“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” became the 3rd and last part of the Star Wars saga.

Initially, Colin Trevorrow was appointed to direct the film. However, later, it became known that the Lucasfilm studio intends to replace the director. David Fincher was offered to take place of the movie director but he refused in favor of the drama series “Mindhunter.” Then the J.J. Abrams director was appointed as a director. He previously worked on the seventh episode of the space opera. A week after this event, a petition appeared on the Net where fans petitioning Lucasfilm to discharge J.J. Abrams from his post as director of Star Wars. The petition was signed by 1911 people. However, despite this, Abrams was still a director of the movie.

Before the death of C. Fisher, who played the role of Leia, the producers planned to give her character more attention in the upcoming movie. However, later the producers considered using footage from the last parts where she took part. The little brother of the late actress Todd and her daughter Billie agreed to use her image in the film.

It is the first film of the trilogy shot on a 65-mm film in contrast to the previous parts, which were shot on 35-mm film.

One of the key roles in the film will be played by actor Matt Smith, who gained fame thanks to the role of the 11th Doctor in the British sci-fi TV series Doctor Who.

In November 2017, Disney and Lucasfilm Studios announced the release of another Star Wars trilogy. According to rumors, the director of the first movie of the fourth trilogy will be Rian Johnson.

The working title of the film is “Black Diamond.”

Plot

The main character, named Rey, along with his talented teacher Finn continues to fight for the liberation of the Universe. The First Order, which reappeared from nowhere, decided to seize power over the entire galaxy, exterminating the out-of-control people and unnecessary rivals, permanently wiping them of existence.

The members of the powerful order decided to recreate their union after suffering another loss. In the past conflict, their leader was killed, and there were practically no members of the resistance group. Most of the brave Jedi died in the previous battle. The main heroes need to get together again to repel a new attack by a stronger enemy.

Initially, the premiere of the movie was planned for May 24, 2019.  In the fall of 2017, the release date of the movie was moved to December 2019 due to a change of a movie director.
