10. Men in Black 4

The MiB used to be the greatest sci-fi franchise a while ago, but the new kids on the block have pushed it to the side a bit. Still, the most recent installment – the 3rd movie – was a huge commercial success. For some reason, the folks behind this saga aren’t quick to deliver the official new chapter.

Some rumors claim that both Smith and Jones will return for #4. At the same time, some info leaked about a possible reboot with a completely new cast. One thing is certain: Men in Black 4 is one of the most anticipated movies next year. It’s just that we’re not really sure it will arrive in 2018 :).

9. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

After the success of the 2015 film, it was obvious that the 5th installment in the record-breaking series was a go. Unfortunately, there’s little to no information about the plot. We do know that both Pratt and Howard will return to their respective roles. Filming wrapped in September, and it’s coming to the theaters in June.

If you loved the previous film, that you’ll most definitely appreciate what the team did this time around. More CGI effects, more action scenes, and, of course, more dinosaurs – that’s what you can expect from the Fallen Kingdom. Put it on the list of best Science Fiction movies 2018 and let’s move on.

8. Star Trek 4

Kirk has been through a lot over the years, but his biggest challenges are still ahead. This time around, he’ll get to meet his father face to face. The man’s legacy has been a huge part of his life for as long as he can remember, and now it’s finally time to set the score right. Hands down, this is going to be yet another epic chapter in the ST universe. The fans of intergalactic journeys, rich, multi-layered characters, a great sense of humor and the thrill of discovery will fall in love with the 4th installment.

7. Annihilation

Three beautiful and gifted women, three scientists, join forces in what seems to be the greatest expedition in the history of mankind. Natalie Portman portrays a fearless biologist who becomes a part of a perilous, hazardous mission that can shape the future of humanity. Based on a best-selling book, this film is shaping up to be quite a crowd-pleaser. Of the TOP 10 best Sci-Fi movies of 2018 to watch, Annihilation is probably going to one of the biggest commercial hits next year.

6. The Predator

Yes, it’s been a bumpy ride for this franchise, and there’s no telling whether The Predator will meet our expectations or not. But the fans will still cheer for it and hope for the best. It’s obvious that the team is in love with the Predator world and is doing whatever’s necessary to deliver a modern-day classic.

The cast includes some big names, the budget is solid, and they’ve been working on it for quite a while. It’s about damn time somebody made a great movie about these charismatic alien hunters, right?

5. Han Solo

Do you know how Han became a thief, a vagabond, and a hero? Well, you will after you watch this film. Folks have been waiting for a proper solo movie for Han (see what we did there?), and the wait is finally over. With the Star Wars universe doing so great these last couple of years, there’s no doubt that we’ve got yet another blockbuster on our hands. Before becoming a part of the Rebellion, Han and his trusted friend, Chewie, used to have their own quest. Action, drama, and humor will come together to deliver one of the TOP 10 best modern Science Fiction films 2018.

4. Ready Player One

The original book became a bestseller and something of an iconic release among the fans of sci-fi. And now Warner Bros. is ready to deliver the big-screen adaptation. Wade, the main character of the story, is just another teenage boy who’s trying to escape the real life and find his calling in the virtual reality provided by Oasis.

It’s some sort of a virtual world that invites you to be a part of a big game. When the man behind Oasis dies, he launches a wild treasure hunt with a prize of 1 billion US dollars. Wade is one of the many players who want to claim that fortune. And there are folks who are ready to take lives – both virtual and real – in order to get their hands on it.

3. The Dark Tower

Roland is the only Gunslinger left in the Universe. He’s been fighting an unfair fight for decades, and it’s starting to take its toll on him. The man’s biggest enemy is Mr. O’Dim who dreams of destroying the Tower of peace. If he succeeds, all hell will break loose and there will be no stopping the evil forces that invade our home.

The future of planet Earth is at stake, and the Gunslinger is ready to sacrifice his own life to make sure our kind is safe and sound. It’s time for the final stand, the epic finale of their life-long fight…As far as the TOP 10 best recent Sci-Fi movies go, The Dark Tower is a must-see.

2. The Maze Runner: The Death Cure

This is the 3rd and the final installment in the ground-breaking franchise. Thomas is to lead his friends into battle once again. They are humanity’s last hope, and if the teenagers fail, everything will be lost. True, they’ve been through a lot, but nothing could’ve prepared them for this. In order to save their loved ones and the whole planet, they’ll have to find their way into the so-called Last City, yet another labyrinth. If the freedom fighters make it out alive, all the secrets will come out, all the questions will be answered. But no soul has ever managed to survive in this maze.

1. Bumblebee

The ladies and gentlemen behind the Transformers saga are finally ready to spice things up a bit. Sources claim that Bumblebee will take us back to the 80s and be more focused on the story itself and the characters than the CGI effects and bad jokes. We most certainly welcome this new development and wish Mr. Knight, the director, good luck. Bumblebee finds himself broken and lonely in a junkyard in Cali. Charlie, a good-hearted young girl, fixes his body armor and becomes his best friend. Ok, now we all know what is the best Sci-Fi movies in 2018. There’s a lot of heat coming next year!
